Description of the Friability of Meteorites bundle V1.0 ======================================================= Bundle Generation Date: 2025-12-08 Peer Review: 2025_Asteroid_Review Discipline node: Small Bodies Node Content description for the Friability of Meteorites bundle =========================================================== The archive contains seven individual .csv files, one for each meteorite, listing the mass retained (in grams) on each of the nine sieve sizes following 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000, and 100,000 revolutions. Each file follows a consistent format, allowing direct comparison of friability behavior across the meteorite suite. In addition, the archive includes a PDF document showing photographs of the initial fragments before tumbling, post-experiment residues after 100,000 revolutions, and the corresponding mass distribution across sieve bins for each meteorite. All measurements were conducted according to the USP 1216 friability standard, using a 28.7 cm diameter drum that rotated at 25 rpm. Caveats to the data user ======================== No major issues are known with this dataset. Minor uncertainties stem from handling of fine fractions and small (<1%) mass losses during sieving, which are within analytical precision and do not influence the overall friability trends. Slight variations in lighting and fragment arrangement in the photographs may occur, but do not affect the quantitative interpretation of the results.
