The document directory contains documentation files, where available, for the 
data set in this volume.  All document files will have an accompanying label  
file to describe content and structure.  Label files have the same name as the
main document file, with an extension of ".lbl".

ads.asc -  This is an internal file of bibliographic information to be sent by
        PDS to the Abstract Data Service (ADS) to list this data set in their 
        service.  This file is not intended to be useful to data users.

apdcurvlbl.asc -  "Label for Polarimetry Curve Table", This is the PDS label  
        describing the data file apdcurvtab.asc.  The data file was originally
        archived in the data directory of the APD data set, but has been moved
        to the document directory because it has not been updated since 1999  
        and several more recent analyses have been published.  The label is   
        included here to document the format and content of the apdcurv file. 
                                                                              
apdcurvlbl.lbl - The label file for the document "Label for Polarimetry Curve 
        Table" described above.                                               
                                                                              
apdcurvtab.asc -  "Polarimetry Curve Table", This is a tabulation of          
        polarimetry curve parameters and polarimetric albedos for selected    
        asteroids.  This information appeared originally as Table II of       
        Lupishko and Mohamed (1996) [LUPISHKO&MOHAMED1996].  The file was     
        originally included in the PDS Asteroid Polarimetric Database data set
        in the data directory.  In 2012 it was decided by the review panel to 
        remove it to the document directory of the data set because it has not
        been updated since 1999 and a number of more recent analyses have been
        published.  It is intended to archive an updated polarimetry curve    
        data set soon.

        (In 1999, the albedos of four asteroids were refined slightly by the  
        authors of the original paper.  These asteroids are numbers 55, 147,

        original label for the data file is included as well under the name

apdcurvtab.lbl - The label file for the document "Polarimetry Curve Table"

apdplots_and_table.pdf -  "Polarization Plots for Asteroid Types", This       
        document presents plots of polarization as a function of phase angle  
        for typical asteroids of G, B, C, M, S, V, and E types.  Average      
        albedos and polarization phase dependences for the main asteroid types
        are also given.  This document was prepared by Dmitrij Lupishko in    
        June 2014 as a supplement to the Asteroid Polarimetric Database.      
                                                                              
apdplots_and_table.lbl - The label file for the document "Polarization Plots  
        for Asteroid Types" described above.                                  
                                                                              
polobs.asc -  "APD Observatory List", The APD data file specifies the         
        observatory at which the data were taken in the OBSERVATORY column, by
        means of an abbreviated form of the observatory's name.  This file    
        lists these abbrevations along with full information about the        
        identity of the observatory.

polrefs.asc -  "General Polarimetry Reference List", This is a general list of
        publications relating to asteroid polarimetry, compiled by Dmitrij
