PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT NOTE = "NIS BROWSE Directory information file" PUBLICATION_DATE = 2012-02-15 END_OBJECT = TEXT END ***** File BROWINFO.TXT This directory, BROWSE/, contains the NEAR NIS SAMPLE browse facility which displays sample spectral plots from the nixel database NIXDB.FIT in the DATA/ directory of this volume, Volume NNEROS_2001. The NEAR NIS SAMPLE browse facility comprises the SAMPLE.HTM HTML file and associated files. See BROWSE/SAMPLE.LBL for a description of the NEAR NIS SAMPLE browse facility. This directory also contains the browse facility for the NEAR Infrared Spectrometer archive. It consists of a single, HTML index table ('NISBROWSE.HTM') and the associated image files, stored under the 'MAPS/' subdirectory. The HTML and JPEG image files are accessible to the contemporary, popular browsers. Note, however, that the AVI and MOV (QuickTime) animation file formats are proprietary and may require a commercial viewer for display. Note also that selecting the image links from a browser will open the image files in a separate window. Finally, ***N.B. Files with unusual extensions are present in the directory tree under BROWSE/. Some of these files also have lines longer than 80 characters. This is only an anomaly with respect to the PDS standard and represents no problem or error in the data. ***N.B 2002-08-20 : Added QuickTime (MOV) versions of the AVI-formatted, footprint animations. - S. McLaughlin, PDS-SBN NOTE ==== The labels and manifest tables written for the HTML files and the approach used in archiving these facilities make use of prototype standards which have not yet been formally incorporated into the PDS system. For this reason, support for this facility within the PDS is extremely limited. Once the standards have been fully accepted and integrated into the PDS archives, the labels and files in this directory will be updated by the Small Bodies Node to reflect the final version of the standard. Update: 2012-02-15 ================== This directory combines browsers provided on the original, separate CDROM volumes of this data set. The draft format standard mentioned above was never accepted by the PDS.
