PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2002-03-30 NOTE = "Errata: known errors/anomalies in volumes" END_OBJECT = TEXT END ERRATA.TXT - Contains text information describing errors and/or anomalies found in the current volume as well as errors and/or anomalies found in previous volumes of a volume set. Date Comment 01-31-02 IMPORTANT NOTES ON DATA: The NEAR magnetometer data were sometimes sampled at uneven time intervals. Please take note of this fact, especially if you are calculating power spectra or performing other calculations that presuppose a uniform time interval for the data. The NEAR MAG data files contain periodic calibration events, thruster firings, and telemetry errors that appear as data spikes. These events have not been removed from the data files. The large events that persist for tens of records or more, depending on the telemetry rate, are the calibrations. Short duration events are more difficult to classify in general. Some of these events are associated with spacecraft propulsion events. Others are of an unknown origin and may be telemetry errors. 09-01-01 The ASCII documents in the /DOCUMENT directory have extension .TXT rather than .ASC. 09-01-01 The GEOMETRY directory does not contain the SPICE files associated with this phase of the mission. The NEAR GEOMETRY datasets are grouped by phase as follows: Phase PDS Volumes ----------- --------------------------- CRUISE1 NGCRU1_0001 MATHILDE NGMATH_0001 CRUISE2 NGCRU2_0001 EARTH/FLY/BY NGERTH_0001 CRUISE3 NGCRU3_0001 EROS/FLY/BY NGERFB_0001 CRUISE4 NGCRU4_0001 EROS NGEROS_0001 - NGEROS_0004 EROS/SURFACE NGERSF_0001 02-01-02 The DATA_SET_ID values for these datasets, found in the MAGDATASET.CAT files and elsewhere, do not all meet the customary standards for PDS data set IDs. In particular, the parts of the IDs representing the mission phases should contain hyphens rather than slashes. These data set IDs are being kept as they are to maintain consistency with earlier NEAR data set IDs. 03-30-02 An ASCII text version of the document MISSIONOVERVIEW.PDF has not been provided in the /DOCUMENT directory, because an ASCII text treatment of the same material is in the file /CATALOG/NEARMISSION.CAT. An ASCII text version of the document FITS.PDF was not available at the time of production of this disk.
