Liens for the Dawn updated Gravity review Apr. 29, 2024 Review start: Apr. 19, 2024 Review completed: Apr. 29, 2024 External reviewer: Erwan Mazarico PDS EN reviewer: Richard Chen Other participants: Joe Mafi, Carol Neese, Eric Palmer, Ryan Park. Result of review: Data set is certified for release prior to liens resolution. Liens: 1. DATASET.CAT - DATA_SET_NAME still refers to V3.0 - STOP_TIME does not match the STOP_TIME of the new C70E01 gravity field solutions. - CITATION_DESC still refers to V3.0 with a 2018 date. - The filenames of two of the new C70E01 SHA/LBL files do not follow the convention described here, GTsss_nnnnvv_SHA.TAB (they have additional _KAULA and _ISOSIG). Dataset.cat should be updated to reflect actual filenames. 2. REF.CAT - LABEL_REVISION_NOTE should be updated with later dates. - RUSSELL&RAYMOND2011 has a typo in the journal name: Space Science Reviews 3. DATA/SHADR/*.LBL DATA/RSDMAP/JGDWN_CER18D_GEOIDERR_0018.LBL - Suggestion: to match INST.CAT, replace INSTRUMENT_NAME = "RADIO SCIENCE SUBSYSTEM" with INSTRUMENT_NAME = "GRAVITY SCIENCE INSTRUMENT" 4. DATA/SHADR/JGDWN_C70E01_*.LBL - These 3 labels are missing the required keywords SPACECRAFT_CLOCK_START_COUNT and SPACECRAFT_CLOCK_STOP_COUNT - Suggestion: add MISSION_PHASE_NAME. The other 7 labels have it. - Suggestion: converge on 1 TARGET_NAME. These labels have TARGET_NAME = "CERES" while the other 7 and the CATALOG files have TARGET_NAME = "1 CERES" 5. DATA/JGDWN_CER18D_SHB.LBL - Suggestion: add INSTRUMENT_HOST_NAME = "DAWN" in place of or in addition to SPACECRAFT_NAME = "DAWN" 6. INDEX/INDEX.TAB - Line 2, field 3 (PRODUCT_ID) is JGDWN_CER18D_ACCERR.IMG but DATA/RSDMAP/JGDWN_CER18D_ACCERR_0018.LBL's PRODUCT_ID is JGDWN_CER18D_ACCERR_0018.IMG Suggestions: - It is not clear why RSDMAP products were not included in this update for the C70E01 fields, as was done for CER18D. Not a personal concern, but that might be of use to non-specialists who want to put the gravity field information in perspective with other datasets. - My (EM) main finding is that it would have been very useful for the science community to archive the covariance products (SHBDR), in addition to the field products (SHADR). These latter provide the solution and uncertainty values on the coefficients, but these are of limited use, particularly in this case where the variations in spatial resolution are significant and thus the correlations between parameters atypical. - In the data labels, STOP_ORBIT_NUMBER is NULL. Can this be filled with an appropriate value? - Ref.cat, PARKETAL2020: none of the other references’ journal names are abbreviated; perhaps spell out Nature Astronomy for consistency?
